Your no friend of mine

Everyday, guaranteed, I recieve bleeps from wards to review patient I don’t look after.

Why?

It’s because these wards don’t know who their buddy is!

Let me start from the beginning.

For a long time in my hospital, and also other hospitals, medical outliers on surgical wards have a habit of being missed for several days or longer. So they’ve started something called a buddy system, which is where assigned medical wards look after medical outliers on surgical wards. Is the system working- is it fuck!

The main problem is, only the consultants have been emailed about the new buddy system and not any of the ward managers or staff nurses. Who came up with that brainstorm? So everyday, I get bleeped from a ward I don’t cover and have to fob the nurse off.

Another good idea ballsed up. Well done guys

Shit Happens!

I thought i’d go all eponymous and use the name of my blog for todays title.

“Shit Happens!”

If things hadn’t fucked up royally regarding this eternal house sale, I would now be in Australia, probably starting my 2nd day as a Dr in Oz. It took me ages to sort out that fucking job and i blew a load of dosh, but had to withdraw because the sale of our family house is taking MUCH longer than expected! Fuck fuck fuck! Sorry!

But! fortunately i have managed to sort out a year long job back in the midlands, with a not bad rotation in a hospital i know, with friends i know in the vicinity. And to top that bit of luck of, i have finally got a girlfriend, after years in the singles wilderness, though the other half is living it up in Gran Canaria at the mo’. It’s weird, if i had gone to Oz, I would never have met this girl, but who knows what would have happened abroad?

So where do i go from here?

Well, hopefully our house sale/buy will complete next week. I’ll do my mrcp part 1 revision course, then i’m back to leamington, crashing on a mates sofa for a few days till i find my own rented accommodation and then start work on august 2nd!

Is this what they call a silver lining? I’ll wait till i sign that housing contract before commiting to any cheesy proverbs.

Tomorrow i’ll go and see “Pirates of the Caribbean 2″ on Orange Wednesday!
